Going Deeper...

Isaiah 29:13 The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

I was walking from my car into my news station one morning and looked up and just heard the word depth. I instantly started thinking of the layers of my life; the parts that I don’t show or share. I felt convicted because God has called me to come unto Him as I am. I am trying to hide my most intimate self from my creator; the one who knows me like no other. I am trying to hide from Abba, Father. I have been worshiping with my mouth and with my lips, but I have not given God my heart. Because if I had, there’s no way I wouldn’t want him to know me intimately. I liken it to marriage. We meet that special someone and we can’t stop talking to them. We want to spend as much time getting to know them as possible, and we want them to know us intimately. We imagine our lives with that person, and we think we can’t live without them. We pledge our love and devotion and all that we are to that person. Well, God is saying I want that with you. I created you so that we could have that relationship.

God wants to go deeper with you. He wants all of you! There is no part of you that he doesn’t already know about, but the depth of your relationship

comes when you decide to give Him your heart, without limits and without conditions. God is saying, don’t just worship me with your mouth and with your lips. Don’t just worship me because of what you think you should do in church on Sunday or because of what you’ve seen others do. God is saying talk to me, be with me and love me. God is saying worship me.

What are the layers that need to be pulled back in your life so that you can truly love God with your whole heart? Will you go deeper with God today? Stop giving him lip service and instead, serve him with your life. He wants more of you. He wants all of you.

Prayer:

Lord, help my sister to know that there is nothing about her that you don’t already know. Help her to love herself because of who You created her to be. Give her the strength and courage to peel back the layers of her life. You know your daughter, Lord, because You created her. You love her unconditionally. May she know that and feel that and believe that through her faith in you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
